It's protected bays, majestic mountains, rainforests, abundant wildlife and history make it a spectacular, enchanting place to visit. Miles of beaches are great for exploring the coast and listening to the surf while searching for sea glass, shells, driftwood, and kelp. It also allows opportunity to see sea birds, otters, whales, deer, fox and the occasional bear. The islands rugged terrain and dense old-growth Sitka spruce forest offer incredible hiking. Abandoned and dilapidated buildings, artifacts and a cemetery make for an outdoor museum, inviting exploration. All of this makes for many photographic opportunities.
